A remote desert railway station on the eve of its grand reopening
The briefing
You step off the afternoon freight into heat and silence. Three people kept the station running through the storm. The stationmaster wants the culprit named before the inspectors arrive, and he will not say more until you have spoken with each of them.
The station's brass Meridian Clock, which was to set the time for the first excursion train of the Dust Wren line, was found wrecked at half past five by the porter. Its works were ruined beyond repair.
