The Vanishing Front Page
A newspaper office on deadline night
The briefing
You arrive to silent phones, cold coffee and a newsroom in huddles. The editor, foreman, reporter, copy chief and a junior photographer all had run of the building, and the publisher wants the culprit named before the paper's name is ruined.
At 11:40 p.m., with the presses waiting, the only complete copy of tomorrow's front-page exposé on the harbour contracts was found gone from the layout table. The signed source notes had vanished with it.
The suspects
- Alma Voss, Managing editor
- Bram Okafor, Press room foreman
- Cora Lindqvist, Crime reporter
- Desmond Hale, Copy chief
- Esme Tran, Junior photographer
