The Vanishing Heron
A ceramics studio before an exhibition
The briefing
You arrive to find four people pacing between the kilns and the shelves, each with a reason to want the exhibition to go well or badly. The studio owner has called you in quietly, before the gallery staff turn up and start asking questions.
The Heron Vase, the three-foot celadon centrepiece of the studio's big exhibition, has vanished from its plinth. Staff found the empty plinth at six o'clock, with the glass case closed and nobody admitting to having seen it go.
